January, 16th 2005 Firefighters from Lancaster Township, West Lancaster and Rohrerstown, participate in a joint training session at a vacant house in the 1400 block of Columbia Avenue.
Firefighters took part in RIT evolutions that included breaching walls; then passing through the opening, creating a large egress from the exterior and pulling a downed firefighter out of the basement using only a charged hose line. Along with those evolutions firefighters also worked from ground ladders and the bucket of truck 66 cutting vent holes and performing roof work.
The House was donated to the fire department for training purposes before it was scheduled to be demolished for the expansion of Fiorentiono's Italian Restaurant at 1411 Columbia Avenue.
A special thanks to Rohrerstown Deputy Chief Greer, Rohrerstown Lieutenant Dommel, and Southern Manhiem Township Captain Bender for their help teaching the various stations. All firefighters did an outstanding job and worked very well together.
There was a combined total of 20-25 participants.
