
Water Rescue Has Happy Ending
Just as the second rescue team lowered their boat into the water, word came over the radio from Lancaster County Park Rangers that they had located the two missing boys. Lancaster City Police detectives Michael Bradely and Hugh Urey found a raft on the Conestoga River shortly after 5pm Saturday June 5. Lodged on rocks below the Rt 222 northbound bridge, downstream from Lancaster County Park, The raft looked like a piece of wood fencing.
Two Sunnyside boys ages 11 an 12 had been seen on the makeshift
vessel along the Conestoga, but at some point abandoned it. Park
Ranger Doug batche found the boys near a park pavilion, walking
along the river.
