Car Fire Threatens Sterling Place Townhomes
Lancaster Township Fire Department responded to a car fire Monday June 16, at 919 Sterling Place in the townhome section of the Sterling Place development off of Bean Hill in Lancaster Township. Lancaster Township assistant chief Steve Roy was the first to arrive and found a fully involved engine compartment fire close to the front door of the residence.
Assistant Chief Roy gave orders for Engine 6-6-2 to advance a line to protect the exposures in front of the burning vehicle and Engine 6-6-1 to handle fire suppression.
Firefighters Jake Bowman and John Wagner quickly knocked down the fire and began to overhaul the vehicle. The fire was declared under control at 11:37 p.m.
The 11:22 p.m. fire destroyed the blue Ford Tempo GL. The cause of the blaze is undetermined and remains under investigation by Fire Chief Glenn Usdin and Lancaster City Police Department.
Engines 6-6-1,6-6-2, 6-6-3 and Rescue 6-6 responded to the incident and remained on the scene until 11:59 p.m. at which time the scene was turned over to Lancaster City Police.
