One Car MVA Involving Fire

Lancaster Township Fire Department responded to a one vehicle accident involving fire at 316 North President Avenue, Sunday June 1, 2003.
Lancaster City Police arrived and extinguished the bulk of the engine compartment fire with a dry chemical extinguisher. Engine 6-6-3 arrived shortly after the police and extinguished the remainder of the fire with a dry chemical extinguisher.
The female driver of a red 1995 Subaru legacy LS lost control of the vehicle, left the road way and slammed into a tree at 316 North President Avenue in Lancaster Township. The drivers fiancee was in a separate car in front of the Subaru when he noticed her head lights were gone. He immediately backtracked to find her car smashed into a tree. He explained she was lighting a cigarette and lost control of the vehicle.
The accident, remains under investigation by Lancaster City Police. Fire personnel remained on the scene for an hour.
Lancaster Township units responding were Engine 6-6-3 and Rescue 6-6. Fire Police blocked traffic around the scene.
LEMSA assisted at the scene bur patients refused treatment.
