Lightning Sparks 2 Alarm Fire

During a violent thunderstorm, lightning Struck this home in the 1000 block of Maple Ave. at 1:18 am Saturday August 14, 1999.
Lightning struck the rear of the home, starting a fire on a second floor sun porch. Fire also damaged a portion of the attic.
The balance of the home sustained smoke and some water damage on the first floor.

The fire was reported under control by Assistant Chief Keith Rankin after an hour of battling intense heat and smoke.
Damage is estimated at $105,000 to property and contents.

Assisting the Lancaster Township Fire Department were Millersville Fire Company (Station 6-5),West Lancaster Fire Company (Station 6-8), Roherstown Fire Company (Station 6-7) and West End Ambulance Assn. (Ambulance 6-14).
