Driver Extricated From Vehicle After Crashing Into Steep Hillside

Lancaster Township Fire Department responded to a vehicle accident with entrapment at 12:30 A.M., Monday November 22, at the intersections of Wabank Road and Bean Hill Road in Lancaster Township.

A silver Mitsubishi Mirage traveling north on Bean Hill Road failed to stop at the intersection which is a T intersection. The vehicle proceeded through the intersection and smashed into the base of a steep embankment. After striking the embankment, the vehicle traveled another 10 feet away from the roadway, up the steep hillside.

The driver was trapped in the wreckage of the vehicle. Rescue personnel removed the drivers side door to gain access to the patient. The driver was removed and placed on an awaiting stretcher and transported by a Lancaster EMS ambulance.

Fire Police directed traffic around the scene to keep fire personnel safe. Fire police from New Danville and Millersville assisted with traffic control.

Millersville Rescue 6-5 assisted at the scene with lighting and vehicle stabilization.

Emergency personnel remained on the scene for 90 minutes.
