FRIDAY AUGUST 25, 2006 – LTFD Fire
Police were dispatched for traffic control on Millersville Road at the
Conestoga River Bridge.
A trash truck from Edie Waste, hauling a trash compactor full of
waste paper trimmings from a local printer, lost it’s load of paper on
the roadway.
Piles of waste paper trimmings were knee deep from the Conestoga Bridge to Rice Road.
Faulty tie down straps on a tarp covering the discharge of the trash
compactor failed, causing the waste paper to exit the rear of the truck.
Workers from Edie Waste were instructed by PENNDOT to move the paper to side of the road so the road can be opened to traffic.
After the paper was moved from the roadway, a second trash truck arrived to assist with clean up the paper.
Fire Police opened the roadway allowing one lane of alternating lanes
of traffic as the cleanup crew worked along the shoulder of the road.
New Danville Fire Police regulated north bound traffic at Circle M
Campground in Pequea Township and LTFD Fire Police at Rice Road.
Millersville and Rohrerstown Fire Police regulated traffic at Millersville Road and Wabank Road.
Fire Police were on the scene for two hours.
The driver was sited by Lancaster City Police for illegal hauling of Municipal waste.
