S. West End Ave. Gas Leak
August 17th, 2006, 8:35 AM

THURSDAY AUGUST 17, 2006 — LTFD was dispatched to a gas leak at 639 S. West End Ave.

Engine 66-2 responded to the 8:35 a.m. incident and found the leak was stopped prior to arrival.

A plumbing contractor, digging a trench replacing a residential water line, hit a gas line running under the sidewalk.

The contractor stopped the leaking gas by turning the sidewalk shutoff valve off and capping the broken gas line.

LT. Paul Castline gathers information for the fire report.

Construction workers capped off the ruptured gas line.
