TUESDAY DECEMBER 5, 2006 — LTFD elected a new fire chief at their monthly business meeting held Tuesday December 5.
Deputy Chief Ron Comfort Jr. was elected fire chief by the members at their 7 p.m. meeting.
Comfort succeeds fire chief Glenn Usdin who is stepping down to devote more time to his newly established used fire apparatus business venture named Command Fire Apparatus.
Comfort joined Bausman Fire Company in 1984 at the age of 16 as a junior firefighter. He became an engineer in 1987 and promoted to Lieutenant in 1988 then captain in 1989.
After the merger of Bausman and Wheatland fire companies into the newly formed LTFD in 1991, Comfort was named station chief of the LTFD South Station by fire chief Glenn Usdin.
Comfort was promoted to Deputy Chief in 2001.
Executive board officers elected were:
President - Greg Kolb,
Vice President - Ron Comfort Sr.,
Secretary - Steve Roy and
Treasurer - Tom Schaller.
Executive board directors elected were Vicki Adams, Sally Comfort, Dale Kline, Dick Ruhl, Glenn Usdin and Tim Zimmerman.
LTFD Relief Association elected Tim Zimmerman and Ron Comfort Jr. as directors.
