March 16, 2005 — At 09:41, Lancaster Township's Rescue and Truck were dispatched to assist Willow Street fire Company (Station 5-12), on a second alarm building fire at 766 Pennsy Rd in Providence Twp.

First units on the scene found heavy fire conditions in the roof, bedroom and hallway of the home.

The firefighters from Lancaster Township assisted with a secondary search, salvage and overhaul.

The rescue crew was able to locate the family dog but it had unfortunately succumbed to smoke inhalation. Rescue personnel also performed air duties by filling cylinders while on scene.

The initial investigation revealed the fire originated in the ceiling area above the furnace pipe. Trooper Brian Herr, a state police fire marshal, is continuing the investigation.

The house was deemed a total loss, with $100,000 in damages.

Units from Lancaster Township operated for about 2 hours before being released.
