Monday Night Training: Propane Fires
July 10th, 2006, 7:00 PM

MONDAY JULY 10, 2006 - LTFD conducted their Monday night training at Lancaster County Public Safety Training Center.

The topic for the night was to be car fires but due to the car fire simulator being out of service, the topic was changed to propane tank fires.

Maytown Fire Company joined LTFD firefighters using the propane tank fire simulator. Maytown Assistant Chief Dan Houseal was the LCPSTC Burn Technician for the training.

Two groups of two firefighters advanced to the burning tank using a fog pattern. The fog patterns crossed one another creating a curtain of protection.

Once the two groups reached the burning tank. A fourth firefighter closed the tank shut off valve which was in front of the curtain of water that was holding back the heat of burning gas.

During the propane fire training, Maytown and LTFD junior firefighters practiced  car fire firefighting on the broken car fire simulator prop.
