Minivan Strikes Tree On Abbeyville Road

SUNDAY OCTOBER 22, 2006 — LTFD responded to a single car vehicle accident at 5:05 A.M. at the intersection of Abbeyville Road and Springside Drive.

Additional information radioed to responding apparatus was the driver of the vehicle was walking on Abbeyville Road toward Stonemill Road wearing lingerie.

Engine 66-3 was the first arriving apparatus and found a van that was blocking the south bound lane of Abbeyville Road that had severe front end driver side damage and steam coming from the engine compartment. Their were no occupants inside the vehicle.

Lancaster City PD found the driver in an intoxicated state walking in a nearby apartment complex.

The 1992 gray Dodge minivan veered of the roadway and crushed garden light posts in the 500 block of Abbeyville Road. The van proceeded off the roadway knocking down a curve ahead road sign and striking a tree. The van bounced off the tree and was throw back onto Abbeyville Road just past the Abbeyville Road and Springside Drive intersection.

Firefighters stabilized the vehicle and provided spill control for leaking fluids.

Fire police directed traffic around the scene.

Units were in service for 75 minutes.
