SATURDAY MAY 13, 2006 — LTFD responded to a reported dwelling fire at 3 Mill Pond Drive in the Gable Park Woods Development at 8:09 a.m.

Lancaster County Wide Communications Center advised Chief Glenn Usdin the resident's smoke alarm was sounding and had a possible fire in the second floor bathroom. The resident also said there appears to be smoke in the bathroom.

Firefighters found a broken hot water pipe under the bathroom sink causing steam that looked like smoke. Water was filling the bathroom floor and running down the interior wall into the first floor and basement ceilings.

Firefighters turned off the water supply in the basement and started the salvage and overhaul process.

The crew from Engine 6-6-3 used a Salvage Master to vacuum the water from the bathroom and basement floors.

Firefighters cut holes in the first floor and basement ceilings to drain the collecting water.

Units were in service for 1 hour.
