THURSDAY JUNE 22, 2006 - LTFD responded to an automatic fire alarm at Manor Care Health Service, 100 Abbeyville Road at 5:41 pm.

Firefighters encountered a strong odor of smoke/electrical material burning inside the facility.
The occupants were removed from the area of the smell to adjacent dining rooms.

The incident was upgraded to a structure fire which brought
additional engines and manpower from Millersville and Rohrerstown Fire
Company.
The building assignment was completed by adding two additional ladder trucks from Rohrerstown and Eden Fire Company.

EMS was also upgraded due to the number of patients in the building (161) and heat level for responding companies.

LTFD Engine 6-6-2 hand stretched a
5" supply line and the crew from the third engine, Millersville Engine
6-5-4, stretched a 350' preconnect into building.

Interior crews traced the smell to an electrical
panel in the janitors closet and confirmed from the TIC that the area was hot.

The Box
cover was removed and 1 breaker was completely arced and destroyed.

EMS crews changed from patient care to rehab
sector and all FF's went through rehab on their way out of the building before
being returned to service.

The building was turned over to maintenance staff at 6:59 pm.
