Children thrown from vehicle
About
eight people, including possibly five children, were injured in a
violent two-car crash at about 11:40 p.m. Saturday at South Marshall
and Schuylkill streets, off South Duke Street.
 |
| LTFD Fire Police officer Andy Rohlf, Captain Ron Comfort Sr. and LT. Dick Ruh at the scene. |
Witnesses said
two children were thrown into a grassy area near the crash. They did
not know how old the children were. The two men said they heard the
crash and arrived at the scene just as police were arriving.
Seven
or eight people had been taken to hospitals, a city police officer
said, and one woman was still trapped inside a sport utility vehicle,
as far as he knew. The officer said possibly five of the victims were
children.
There was no information available about the extent of injuries early this morning.
Police
cordoned the area and ordered people on sidewalks to move away from the
scene while asking if anyone had seen anything to help them understand
what happened
