Gable Park Woods Brush Fire
February 11th, 2007, 4:40 PM

PHOTOS

SUNDAY FEBRUARY 11 -  Firefighters extinguished  a small brush fire at the bottom of a dry retention pond in the Gable Park Woods development.

The pond is located between Mill Pond Drive, Deep Hollow Lane, Rabbit Hill Lane and Wabank Road.

Firefighters initially sprayed water from above the pond to the rear of Rabbit Hill Lane.

The crew from Engine 66-3 used the pumping station utility road  to access the fire, about 500 feet from the Wabank Road entrance.

Pressurized water cans  were used to extinguish the remainder of the smoldering brush.

It is unknown as to why the pond's drain was never capped and the pond filled with water.

Units were in service for 30 minutes.
