Two people were hospitalized after a Saturday afternoon crash that took the life of a 42-year-old Lancaster woman, city police said.

The two-vehicle, “apparent head on” collision occurred in the 1900 block of New Danville Pike at 3:27 p.m., police said.

Everett Swartz, of the 100 block of Marshall Avenue, Lancaster, was traveling North bound on New Danville Pike at the Conestoga River bridge when his Red Ford Focus flipped and traveled into the south bound lane crashing “head on” with a silver Chrysler Concord, driven by Evelyn Buch, 63, of the first block of Orchard Lane, Conestoga.

Firefighters cut off the door of the Ford Focus that flipped on it’s roof to remove the driver.

On Thursday June 9, Lancaster City Police released the name of the woman passenger in the Swartz’s vehicle, who was pronounced dead at the scene, Lori S. Troop of 151 North Plum Street, Lancaster City.

Troop was not wearing a seat belt, police said.

Anyone with information about the accident is asked to contact Lancaster City police Officer Mark Radmore at 735-3300.
