Eden Fire Co.'s New Truck 24 Visits LTFD
July 31st, 2006, 7:00 PM

JULY 31, 2006 — LTFD firefighters were given a tour of Eden Fire
Company's new tractor drawn ladder truck. Eden fire chief Rick Kane
provided details of the equipment compartments and the rescue/ladder
capabilities.
Info from EDENFIRE.COM
On June 4, 2006, the new Truck 24 entered service and concluded a
multi-year effort to replace their 1994 LTI 100’ ladder tower and 1990
E-One rescue. Combining the equipment and functionality of two separate
units into a single unit was a huge undertaking. Preliminary
compartment designs were done to determine the feasibility of such a
combination aerial/rescue unit. After a careful review, Eden’s members
determined a tractor-drawn aerial unit from Pierce Manufacturing of
Appleton, Wisconsin, would actually carry more equipment than the
current truck and rescue combined.
Since Truck 24 exceeds the Lancaster County Fire Chief’s Association’s
equipment standards for both Truck Company and Rescue Company
categories, the unit can be dispatched by Lancaster County-Wide
Communications (the County 911 center) as either a Truck for a
structure fire or a rescue for a vehicle accident requiring the Hurst
