Crews Respond to Stolen Auto Into Building
August 23rd, 2004, 3:47 AM

August 23,2004. Crews were awakened at 04:52 to Abbeyville Rd in the
area of Schoolhouse Rd. for a reported MVA into a building involving
fire. This brought Engine 66-2, the Rescue and Truck with a total
staffing of 14. County advised Chief 66 that the car was reported to be
into the Abbeyville Christian Church, 551 Abbeyville Road and fully
involved. He upgraded the assignment to a building and requested Engine
64-1 and the Rescue from 65. EMS arrived first to find a car on
fire and into the steps of the church. Command held the units from 66
and returned the rest. Crews made quick work of the engine compartment
fire. The vehicle was reported to be stolen. The cause of the fire
appeared to be from someone removing the radiator and then driving it.
Units were held on the scene for just under an hour. LCPD is
still investigating the incident.
