Boat 6-6 Assists With Waste Oil Spill On Mill Creek
April 28th, 2006, 7:34 AM
|
|
Approximately 200 gallons of oil leaked into Mill Creek near Willow Street, which flows into the Conestoga River.
It was discovered that waste oil was leaking
from an outside oil tank located outside of Old Mill Auto Sales. The oil seeped into
the Mill Creek and traveled downstream into the Conestoga River.
Boat 6-6 (LTFD) and Boat 5-3 (Conestoga Fire Co.) placed booms onto the water to collect the oil.
The
boats along with members of the Haz Mat team launched from the banks of
the Conestoga River behind the Knights of Columbus on New Danville Pike in Lancaster Township.
