Lancaster Township firefighters were
honored guests at the Lancaster Barnstormers baseball game Sunday
September 18 as part of their salute to heroes day at Clipper Magazine
Stadium in Lancaster City.
Fire police and EMS departments from around the county displayed their squad and utility vehicles around the infield of the field for public review. Larger apparatus were staged outside the stadium along Clay Street. Emergency personnel were treated to a buffet style lunch in the picnic area of the stadium. The game started at 1:30 p.m on a warm, bright and sunny afternoon. It ended with the lights on, just after sundown. Fans who stuck around until the end were rewarded with one of the great finishes in Barnstormers history. Quincy Foster slugged a walkoff three-run homer in the bottom of the 15th inning as Lancaster prevailed over the Nashua Pride, 11-9, in the longest game played by the Barnstormers. The contest ended five hours, 31 minutes after the first pitch was thrown by Matt Scheuing to David Francia. © Copyright 2004 by Lancaster Township Fire Department |
