Accident Closes Millersville Pike
June 4th, 2007, 1:28 AM

Fire Police closed Millersville Pike for more than 8 hours.

SUNDAY JUNE 3, 2007 - A Sunday morning police pursuit on Millersville Pike ended when a Lancaster man crashed his car as he reached the city limits, police said.

Jerome Millisock, 27, of 1233 St. Joseph St., recklessly passed four cars and forced two oncoming motorists off the road as he drove east from the Millersville Pike/Route 741 intersection at about 2:25 a.m., Millersville police Officer Brian Tatara said.

The pursuit ended after Millisock passed Manor Shopping Center. His Ford sedan crashed into a fence and a utility pole at the northwest corner of the intersection of Millersville Pike, West End Avenue and Hershey Avenue, Tatara said.

Millisock faces charges of fleeing/eluding police, driving under the influence of intoxicants, driving under suspension, reckless endangerment and reckless driving, Tatara said. Millisock, who was on probation at the time of the incident, was committed to Lancaster County Prison, police said.

Police said Millisock failed to stop for a red light at Millersville Pike and Route 741, failed to yield to Tatara and accelerated as he drove east toward Lancaster.

He drove at a "high rate of speed,'' police said, but the exact speed was not available. The vehicles he passed had stopped for a red light at Schoolhouse Road, police said.

The pursuit lasted about two minutes. Millisock was not injured in the crash, police said.
