By JOHN M. HOOBER III, New Era Staff Writer

A Millersville University student was killed Saturday in a one-car crash on Wabank Road at Gable Park Road in Lancaster Township, city police said.

Dominic Michael Geraci, 23, was traveling east along a straight stretch of roadway when his 1998 Honda hit a tree at 1:54 am., police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The student was alone in the two-door vehicle, according to police. He was from Mechanicsburg and lived in the 600 block of Wyncroft Lane, police said.

Officer Mark Radmore of the Lancaster Bureau of Police Crash Investigation Team was investigating the fatality.

The accident happened at 1:54 a.m. at the Gable Park Road intersection between Lancaster and Millersville. It was the fourth early-morning fatal crash in the county since Wednesday, with fog being a possible factor in three of them, police said.

The Millersville student was driving a two-door Honda east on Wabank Road. He was alone, and on a straight stretch of roadway his car crossed the westbound lane and struck a tree, police said.

Rescue crews from Lancaster, Lancaster Township, and Millersville worked 30 to 40 minutes to free the man from the wreckage. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Lancaster Bureau of Police Crash Investigation Team. Fog and speed might have been factors, investigators said. There was some fog in the area at the time of the crash, and it became heavier while police were at the scene, Sgt. Timothy Frey said.

The crash closed Wabank Road until about 6:30 a.m.
